HIGHLIGHTS

North Shore Toastmasters     t Club Meeting

November 17th, 2008

Theme: Objects of the Past

Dave A ran an on-time and efficient meeting with his low key and very effective chairman skills, “great bridging between speakers”.

Jan F. “gave us another wonderful inspiration, and left us thinking”

Carla was “ruthless” with her fines! “Carla did a great job of explaining her role”.

“Karen was very “succinct in describing her role as timer, easy to understand”

Rob did a great job as our Tabletopics Master-a First timer he had great questions, really made you think, lots of possibility to answer the questions in creative ways.

Well done to all first round TableTopics participants: Bahmen, Christina, Jan F, Karen, Diane, Dave & Carla, we learned something new about each member!

As a new member “Barbara has captured the essence of evaluating”, she “offered great suggestions and thorough points for all”.

Our second round of Tabletopics was a change from the regular, “it was nice to switch it up a bit”. We had a roundtable where everyone was given the opportunity to briefly answer different questions such as “Who did you most admire?”, What was your childhood nickname?” and “What is your favourite saying?”

Christina did a thorough job as the general evaluator, “didn’t leave out a point”, “left me feeling inspired as a new member”.

Theme: Being Daring

“Another evening full of great speeches and good laughs”

Our chairperson Diane did a great job of giving applause after introducing our guests, very welcoming”, Diane’s opening comments on “being daring” was a fantastic mini speech that set the mood for the evening.

Eva did a fantastic job as the Wizard of Ah’s this evening. Full of great descriptions, an unexpected pleasure!

Congratulations on being inducted this evening, also want to congratulate Alan who was inducted last week but could not make this week’s meeting-great to have you both as members!

“Delene’s inspiration was based on her husbands experience assisting 9-11 year old with public speaking. It was truly inspirational”

Barbara did a great job of timing. “Her explanation was very thorough”.

Our return guest Pierre, did a great job in tabletopics with his “meowing”, his gestures made us “see” his neighbour on the roof.

Jim’s tabletopic was textbook in terms of body language, structure and vocal variety, great job.

“Great to see Jim at our meeting tonight”

Bahmen’s tabletopic about his daring experience travelling from Iran to India-a daunting experience on your own-and congratulations on winning tabletopics this evening.”

Great job by Rob as our TableTopics master for the second time in a row! Loved Rob’s “sense of humour and his ability to bridge between each speech-well done Rob!”

Loved Dave A’s expression “use your fingers as visual aids”, Dave A’s evaluation of Tabletopics was “the best I have ever heard from him”.

Christina did “another thorough job as our toastmaster this evening”, “I liked her examples of the definition of bravery vs being daring, her introduction of Carla was excellent”

A wonderful Ice Breaker speech from new member Carla. “Very informative, loved hearing of her experiences and her warm sense of humour. Already a very good speaker-Congratulations Carla! “I look forward to hearing more!”

Join us next week: Monday Dec 1, 2008 for another evening of “fun & friendship”
