SPRING CONFERENCE AT WHISTLER! Wow what a great three
days. The workshops, keynote speakers, the food and ohhh! Those
views on top of Whistler were all spectacular. Let's all plan to
attend the Fall Conference "Capture The Imagination" on November
6 - 8, 2009 at the Grand Villa Casino and Conference Center in
Burnaby. It's local so easy to catch some of the fun if not all!
Even with this gorgeous weather we had two guests.
Nice to see Jan F. back at his usual Monday night haunt! Welcome
back Jan and thanks Trudy for his drive.
Highlights comments included: "Great improvement in all new
members during TT - I'm impressed" - "Carla's speech...
interesting, organized... well done!" - "Loved Randall's joke."
- "Kudos to Grant for taking on the extra role of Wizard of Ah's
at the last moment." - "Karen's evaluation was the most
inspiring I've heard in a long time."
Our Chairman Christina R. went the extra mile tonight and
incorporated the agenda with highlights from Spring Conference
Program at Whistler. Quite different... I liked it.
Robert G. our Wordsmith used a very unusual word "Demerge" which
was difficult to incorporate into our speeches while up at the
lectern. But hay we all learned a new word and that's what it's
all about.
Randall B. was Jokemaster and personalized his joke to include
us which immediately grabbed the audience's attention.
First-time Inspirator Grant S. kept to the theme tonight and had
a nice flow. He even called us to action - well done Grant!
Our Timer' Dave A., used sarcasm when explaining his role -
variety is a nice touch to mix things up a little.
TTM, Jane A. did a great job of explaining the benefits TT has
to our everyday circumstances and covered all aspects of her
role really well.
Pierre G.'s confidence is improving as was evident when he
casually stepped out from and circled the lectern when
participating in TT.
Karen A. as TT Evaluator was very motivating and talked
generally about people’s abilities and past performances.
Jan F. was Toastmaster tonight and toasted "To Conferences". He
really improved in his ability to give the objective to Carla's
speech.
Carla W. gave a very informative speech on how and why we see
certain colours. We loved how she drew the audience in by
getting us to participate in her speech – well done!
Jim S. evaluated Carla's speech and added his own knowledge
about communication into his evaluation.
General Evaluator Diane C. gave a thorough evaluation tonight
with words of encouragement when noting how we could improve
while performing in our roles.
Thanks to Jim S. who sweetened the pot with baked goodies for
our refreshment table.
Our next Toastmasters meeting will be on June 1st at
7:15pm in our regular location. Come join us in "Learning
Through Fun and Friendship".
