HIGHLIGHTS

North Shore Toastmasters     t Club Meeting

April 6th, 2009

"A Night in Memory of Stuart Manning"

WOW! INSPIRING is all I can say about tonight's special evening.

It was a privilege to listen to Dave Manning speak about his son Stuart who was a much loved member of Toastmaster's 1085. Dave's speech was moving and he delivered it with such poise and finesse. You could have heard a pin drop. I'm just sorry that I never met Stuart in person.

Highlights comments included: "This club just gets better. Congratulations"-- "Well-prepared Table Topics Christina" -- "Toastmaster Pam was great with her calm toast" -- "What a marvel Dave S. is! He remains, even in the presence of this club's wonderful evaluators - my evaluator role model. - "Great selection of TT poetical quotes from Christina! Food for thought." -- "Wonderful and courageous speech by Dave Manning: full of wisdom and poetry."

Karen A. was our Chairman this evening and had great background information on poetry and set the tone and flow of the evening.

New member Richard B. took on his first-time role as Wordsmith and chose an appropriate word-of-the-day 'Spring'. Good job Richard.

Randall B. who was just inducted last week jumped into the role of Wizard-of-Ah's and did an admirable job as well.

Pierre G. as Jokemaster always enthusiastically relays his joke, but manages to always make us laugh before the punch line.

Inspirator, Eva F., used repetition for emphasis and asked us questions to make us think.

Because of the special evening our Timer, Jane A, had a challenge in helping the Chairman keep the meeting running on time, but had a great explanation of her role.

Table Topics Master Christina R., had a creative approach to this role when she added lines of poetry.

Our TT Evaluator Dave A. gave a positive evaluation for all speakers.

Toastmaster, Pam E.'s, toast "to Stuart Manning" had a wonderful mix of remembrance and humour.

Dave S. evaluated Dave Manning's speech and he did a wonderful job. When Dave S. mentioned that even veteran, past members still get nervous - it was consoling.

Our General Evaluator, Diane C., showed good appreciation of the positive contributions of all speakers this evening.

Thank you to Eva F. for providing goodies for our refreshment table.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

Our next Toastmasters meeting will be on April 20th at 7:15pm in our regular location when we’ll have our "Rookie Night". Come join us in "Learning Through Fun and Friendship".
