HIGHLIGHTS

North Shore Toastmasters     t Club Meeting

September 15th, 2008

A VERY INFORMATIVE EVENING! We had three guests; great Table Topics session that required us to think before we spoke; with a topping of good humour.

Some comments were: “Lively as always with great humorous imagery!” – “Enjoyed the group evaluation – makes for a nice change.” – “Friendly atmosphere” – “A chance for members to contribute.”

Dave A. opened the evening with a whollop of the gavel and warmly introduced our Chairman Karen A.

Once again Karen A. as Chairman ran a smooth meeting and had some good bridging in between speakers. Doubling up as Wordsmith Karen gave us the word “change” to incorporate into our speaking while up at the lectern.
Wizard of Ah’s was Jane A. “who gave a great new explanation of her role as a listener” as she diligently found a few morsels that would sustain our Piggy-bank.

Jokemaster, Jan F., is skilled in this area and tonight was no exception!

Our Inspiration for the evening was done by Robert G. who is always very entertaining and leaves us wanting to know more.

Li-Ying K. as Table Topics Master was in top form with her questions tonight.

Timer, Delene B., certainly assisted in keeping the meeting on time and was very kind with the bell for a few of our speakers.

Diane C. gave a great structure for the Group Evaluation – we should do this style of evaluation more often. It is motivational when speakers receive some positive feedback and some gentle constructive criticisms.

Albert L. speech on Hinduism was extremely interesting and shed some definite light on a rather complex topic.

Jane A. evaluated Albert’s speech and complimented him on his choice of topic. Albert you certainly are improving!

Christina R.’s speech really gave us pause to think about the appropriateness of the education system for boys. “She has such a great tone to her voice that we are always relaxed and interested in listening.”

Barbara M.’s evaluation of Christina included great examples of components in her speech, so we know exactly what we did well.

Thanks to Diane C.’s Education Session on the TM Manuals – making it clearer as to what is exactly required for the projects in the manuals. She mentioned that if you have any future questions please ask her. If you need your speech manual signed she can do that and if you need your Leadership manual filled in then anyone on the executive can do so.

Thanks to Diane C. for refreshments!

Our next Toastmasters meeting will be an OPEN HOUSE on Monday, September 22, at 7:15pm in our regular location. Come join us in "Learning Through Fun and Friendship".
