HIGHLIGHTS

North Shore Toastmasters     t Club Meeting

February 23rd, 2009

WHAT A GREAT THEME ~ “ON THE ROAD AGAIN” ~ IT MADE FOR SOME INTERESTING TABLE TOPICS

Highlight comments included: “The Camaraderie” -- “Good Grits Martha” – “Loved the Table Topic questions-good job, Robert!” –“Loved tonight’s speeches-vacations & genetics-a great variety of interest to all.” – “Good for our guest to participate in Table Topics.”

Once again a special thank you to all of the double/triple duty doers – what dedication!

Our Chairman tonight was Jane A. and she got our attention with her unique opening commentary on Willie Nelson and his song “On the Road Again”. Jane warmly welcomed our two guests tonight.

Diane C. as Wordsmith gave us a super word “spare” which surprisingly wasn’t used as much as I thought it would.

Wizard of Ah’s was our ever competent Dave A. who managed to snare a few of us with infractions.

Jokemaster Pierre G. always has lots of gestures and got us chuckling with his 3 footed chicken joke.

Jan F. as Inspirator never ceases to amaze me with his accumulated knowledge of the world. I loved the reference to “cottage farms” when referring to places of sanctuary for people with challenges in life.

Timer Diane C. certainly ensured that the meeting ran on time – she pauses at just the right moments to let us absorb the information.

Robert G. as Table Topics Master certainly looked as though he was enjoying his role tonight – he had some great questions too!

Evaluating Table Topics was Carla W. who has a very calm and relaxed presence at the lectern and gave great suggestions for the participants.

Toastmaster Barbara M. had us all thinking of warmer weather with her Toast to “Spring and being on the road again”.

Our first speaker was Alicia G. who did her #2 Speech on Organize Your Speech from the CC Manual. I felt nothing could go wrong with my next vacation if I follow her suggestions. Good job Alicia.

Christina R. evaluated Alicia’s speech and always follows protocol and covered everything very succinctly. Christina you always make it look so easy!!!

Pierre G was our second speaker who also delivered his #2 Speech from the CC manual. He talked about genetics and referred to the futuristic character from Robocop, and showed us how that technology from the show really isn’t that far off.

Dave A. evaluated Pierre’s speech and I am always amazed at how interesting his evaluations are – never the same. Hats off to you too Dave!!!

And now for our General Evaluator Karen A. who always has a great presence at the lectern even if she couldn’t see over it tonight! Karen included everyone and had great suggestions for improvement.

Thanks to Jane A. for the great spread on the refreshment table – variety is the spice of life!

Our next Toastmasters meeting will be on Bring a Friend Night – March 2nd, at 7:15pm in our regular location. Come join us in "Learning Through Fun and Friendship".
