HIGHLIGHTS

North Shore Toastmasters     t Club Meeting

February 9th, 2009

“THE RADIO” WAS OUR THEME TONIGHT. – Our Highlight comments included: “Loved Bahman’s Table Topics-lots of fun” – “Loved the walk down memory lane with CJOR-remember Monty McFarlane?” – “Pierre’s evaluation of Alan-different and thought provoking” – “Alan’s speech-well done, no notes, great pacing and we learned quite a bit about his life-look forward to hearing more.” – “Really enjoyed Jane’s Table Topic response…she danced around the question but then weaved her response back into a response to the question.” – “Barbara, wonderful pearls about good bits of advice Christina gives.”

Despite some very last minute changes the evening was a great success!

Our ever competent Diane C. Chaired tonight with ease – loved her many bridging comments that tied in so well with our theme.

Wordsmith Pierre G. thought of a very appropriate word tonight, “transmit” – I think that word helped get our brains to work better when thinking on our feet in Table Topics.

Alicia G. was our Wizardress of Ahs and her listening skills are showing improvement as our piggy bank got a good helping of food.

Jokemaster, Jan F. gave us a bonus tonight with 2 jokes which made us laugh twice as much setting up the atmosphere for the evening.

Inspirator, Christina R., got us thinking when she compared radio with Toastmasters – take simple ideas and stretch then in new ways.

Our hero tonight was Dave A. who filled in as Timer tonight and certainly helped Diane with keeping the meeting on time. Thanks Dave!

Congratulations to Bahman S. who was our first-time Table Topics Master. Bahman, your questions were really good – I must remember next time to make eye contact with you as your choosing your victims.

Table Topics Evaluator was Jim S. – nice to see you again Jim. We have missed your matter-of-fact evaluation deliveries – always excellent feedback and good constructive suggestions.

Toastmaster Jane A. toasted to “Radio and the Summertime” – roll on Spring!

We were in for another rare treat, Alan B. gave his Icebreaker Speech and did a great job! Alan you certainly gave us a glimpse into another world – we unfortunately take our freedoms for granted.

General Evaluator, Barbara M. did a thorough job in evaluating the overall evening. Barbara had some great suggestions and has a very good ear.

Thank you Pierre G. for the variety of snacks and goodies for the refreshment table – boy were they good!

Our next Toastmasters meeting will be on Feb. 16th, at 7:15pm in our regular location. Come join us in "Learning Through Fun and Friendship".
