WOW what festive weather we all experienced this holiday season.
Hope everyone had a good break and didn’t suffer too much from
shoveling snow off their driveways. At least you burned off all
that holiday turkey, stuffing, mincemeat or whatever your
pleasure was.
Through rain, sleet, slop and snow we managed to get a good
turnout for our first meeting of the New Year. This was
in-keeping with our theme “Sticking to it…our New Year’s
Resolution.”
Dave A. was in true form as he introduced our Chairman tonight –
a special thanks to Dave for the goodies he provided for our
refreshment table.
Chairman, Diane C. ran a smooth meeting. Diane asked us if we
knew what the top 10 New Year’s resolutions were – as the
evening progressed she began to list them starting with number
10 and worked her way down to #1 – this was a great way to keep
the audience attuned to the theme.
Pierre G. was our Wizard of Ahs and kept us thinking on our
feet, rather than using those darn filler words or extra long
pauses.
Inspiration by Jan F. was right on queue when referring to our
resolutions – “Just Do It”!
Carla W. is becoming quite confident as Timer as she helped keep
the meeting on time.
Congratulations Alan B. his first-time as Table Topics Master –
he asked thought provoking questions that were all answered
well.
Kudos to our guest Jenica, who impressed us all by answering her
first-time Table Topics question so confidently – she didn’t
seem very shy at all!
Christina R. evaluated Table Topics with good educational
assessments – by telling/teaching us why things work.
Our Toastmaster Diane C. toasted to “sensibility in our
leaders.”
Congratulations to Jane A. for finishing her last speech
#10–Inspiring Your Audience from the Competent Communication
Manual. Jane chose an excellent topic choice which proved very
inspiring and motivated the audience.
Christina R. evaluated Jane’s speech and always manages to
construct her evaluations on what she liked and appropriately
inserted some constructive criticism that we can all benefit
from.
Well done to Karen A. who also finished her last speech
#10–Inspiring Your Audience from the Competent Communication
Manual. Karen too chose an inspiring topic and had us glued with
interest from beginning to end.
Dave A. evaluated Karen’s speech and commented on how she drew
us into her topic and kept our interest level throughout.
A special note of thanks to those members who did double-duty
tonight – it wouldn’t have gone so well without your extra
effort.
Our next Toastmasters meeting will be on January 12th, at 7:15pm
in our regular location. Come join us in "Learning Through Fun
and Friendship".
