HIGHLIGHTS

North Shore Toastmasters     t Club Meeting

September 10th, 2007

“I really enjoyed being back. It was a great meeting.” “We have so many reasons to come back and renew our relationships.” “It was simply good to see everyone and kick off the 2007 / 2008 season.” “For a first meeting I was very happy to see so many guests! The meeting had lots of humour and it was fun.” “Everyone did such a great job of their roles.” “Often the first meeting of the year has a few glitches to iron out, but this one went so well that it was as though we had been regularly meeting all summer.” “Loved the really positive comments from guests!” “I like the fact that everyone can participate and I also like the fact that all of the speakers are evaluated.” “My first day in a Toastmasters meeting and I am impressed. It is indeed a place to be cheered up for public speaking.” “I love the new meeting schedule – it will be much more efficient!”

“As Chairman, Jim ran a tight meeting, was organized, cheerful and well prepared. I especially appreciated his excellent handling and incorporation of some minor new scheduling procedures. He really utilized the theme well!” “Jim’s professionalism rides on the back of his great enthusiasm and wicked sense of humour. We look forward to your tenure as President this year, Jim.”

“Jessica was a fabulous Wordsmith! I would never have guessed it was her first time in the role. Her word-offering (“rejuvenate”) was well used by many, and enhanced the theme of the evening. What most impressed me, however, was her Wordsmith Report – one of the most thorough we’ve had! The number of word images she caught was astounding!” “It really was a great job which included lots of material by so many members.” “She picked up everything – a range from good to improvements.”

“I adored Hilary’s wonderfully animated and entertaining joke! It was like joke, drama and fairy tale all rolled into one! Bravo!”

“The Inspiration with a challenge was a good one from Delene.” “To me, her excellent advice was inspiring: ‘to practice renewal as a continuous act, not just in one season.’ I loved her Sanskrit word, and would like to see how it is written!”

“Elena, as Wizard of Ahs, continually amazes me with her ability to inject humour into very basic situations. Wow can she think on her feet!”

“Karen, in her role as Timer, proved that a sense of humour makes even the quieter roles shine! Thanks for making us chuckle!”

“The Highlight of tonight’s meeting for me was Jill’s Table Topic session. The subjects were very well picked and matched with the speakers.” “Her topics were varied and interesting and contributed in large part to such wonderful speeches that it was hard to pick a winner.” “Her topics were so great that I would have been able to answer several of them.” “She was obviously well prepared, and her bridging was great.” “The topics were inspirational and exciting!” “They were challenging but very doable. I think everyone enjoyed hearing tid bits from people’s lives and summers.” “I truly appreciated the humour in all of the speeches but the best for me was Jim’s response to ‘Where’s your enthusiasm, Mr. President?!’ This was responded to, of course, enthusiastically.” “He definitely had good laughing material!” “Jan’s was a ‘blast’ – what spirit!” “I really admired one of our guest’s willingness to get up and give a very interesting speech at his very first meeting. Very courageous!” “I appreciated Karen’s good advice about goal setting in her speech: you have to take the necessary baby steps to reach a goal. This requires patience. I loved her observation that the road to reaching one’s goals is often curvy.” “Jessica and Delenes’ were well crafted and well received. Hilary’s was enthusiastic and fun.” She was the recipient of the first Best Table Topic Speech for this year  “Li-Ying’s marathon Evaluation of all 10 Table Topic speeches was an inspiration to me: she had detailed examples to use in her comments on each speaker, and each evaluation was delivered with warmth, enthusiasm and her characteristic sense of humour. She is a true master!” And she also is the recipient of the first Best Evaluator for this year smiley

“Jan made me laugh: he virtually twinkled with mischief!” “How clever of him to use the Word of the Day, ‘Rejuvenate’, to begin his Toast. He brought us a lot of laughter”…”before actually delivering a universal hope for the world”. “He has a way of warming up the audience with his charm so that the mood is already set for the Speaker he is welcoming to the lectern smiley
“I loved Kate’s speech! Great, humorous, brilliant …” “It was the Highlight for me this evening. Her descriptions of her mother-in-law and some interesting family interactions were extremely entertaining.” “It was so interesting and entertaining that I was riveted.” “It was full of fun and life. It was a pleasure to be part of her audience!” “The ultimate Highlights for me had to be her speech and the Evaluation of it by Hilary.”

“The food was great, too. That’s Kate!” “Thanks for the delicious treats.”

“I liked ending the first meeting back with a verbal hug to the club from Pam, as General Evaluator: a positive close to a positively enjoyable evening!”

“New year, new executive, new guests, new format, new time frame … What renewal! What rejuvenation!”
Why not check out this exciting rejuvenation for yourself! Join us next Monday to experience the motto we exemplify: “Learning through fun and friendship.”
