“The best part of this meeting for me was the sense of
lightheartedness, the sense of friendship, and always the
encouragement.”
“We made up for the small attendance by the high level of
exuberance and enthusiasm of all those present.”
“One particular thing that ‘made’ this evening for me was the
skill of our new members; very impressive.”
“Great jokes! Really enjoyed Jill taking charge of the evening.”
“Jill’s commentary was vibrant, enthusiastic, and highly
personalized in that she addressed every member directly to
speak about his or her valued traits and contributions to the
club. This really set the tone for the meeting and tied the
theme into the whole context of how it proceeded.”
“The unique approach to Karen’s Table Topic Session made the
meeting even a whole lot more enjoyable!”
“The Table Topics Speakers were wonderful – great speeches.”
“Wonderful selection of super, impromptu Table Topics. From
Louise’s humorous story about a surprise 40th Birthday party
gone awry, to Dave F.’s explanation of ‘What children should
be…….’, the Table Topics were both entertaining and varied. My
favorite was Li Ying’s dynamic speech which reflected on whether
or not people around the world laugh at the same things.”
The Table Topics presentations were such a hit that we had a tie
for the Best Speaker! The winners were Li Ying Kao and Louise
Williams. A bonus Birthday present for Louise
Louise also gave a winning Inspiration: “Valued gifts – This was
a great Inspiration – gifts from an especially gifted child.”
“I felt Christine really listened tonight and did a very
accurate job as Wordsmith.”
“Christine’s first time in the Wordsmith role stood out for me.
She really listened to everyone and had great word quotes from
most of us. A great job.”
“The two speakers gave wonderful presentations tonight.”
“It was good to hear Elena introduce herself to the club! She is
a valuable new member with an intriguing background in her
culture, home country, etc. “
“I really liked Elena’s Ice Breaker speech: her love-hate
relationship with the concept of moving, and her use of humour
when describing her very first ‘move’, which consisted of simply
rearranging the furniture in her childhood bedroom. She also
gave a good, concise description evoking a vast cityscape.”
“I felt I was in Elena’s city with her, walking along those
deserted streets past buildings magically enveloped in a winter
fog.”
“Elena’s speech was special for me. I really learned something
about ‘who she is’; very personal. Very visual. I loved it!”
“Kate’s speech was one of my Highlights. It is amazing how
someone can write an informative and entertaining speech about
catching mice.”
“Kate’s speech was great!”
“Kate’s superbly organized, motivating and dramatic presentation
was a Highlight. She has terrific potential as a speaker, and
clearly a lot to contribute to the club. I’ve never heard such
an interesting, vibrant and enthusiastic speech about rodents
and the ways in which to exterminate them. Very logical and
methodical approach. The impromptu joke at the end was a nice
touch.”
“I liked the evaluations - Stuart’s detailed and well-sandwiched
evaluation of each person’s Table Topic, for instance. I also
liked Li Ying’s appreciation of being able to walk in at ten
minutes to seven and to see the room already set up. Although
this is often the case, it’s a good reminder to all of us as to
how all our efforts are appreciated when we pitch in upon
arrival. She gave a very thorough (General) Evaluation, as did
all the Evaluators this evening.”
One of the ballots for the Best Evaluator said “I liked them
all!” That’s because they all were good! It was Dave Stewart who
took this prize
Actually, in fact, we all ‘took the prize’. This evening was a
valued gift for everyone who was present.
Be sure to join us for our meeting next week – If you come, as a
member or as a guest, then it is sure to be another winning
evening.
